Shihui Partners recently announced that antitrust and data compliance expert Wesley Wang (王智宁) has officially joined the firm as a partner based in the Shenzhen office. Prior to joining Shihui Mr. Wang served as the Head of Antitrust Compliance at Xiaomi Group. His arrival further strengthens the capabilities of the firm in antitrust and data compliance enhancing its ability to provide comprehensive, tailored, and in-depth legal services to multinational corporations, industry leaders, and technology companies expanding overseas.
Mr. Wang focuses on competition and data compliance bringing over a decade of legal practice. Having advised multinational corporations and leading Chinese enterprises throughout his career he bridges in-house and outside counsel perspectives making him highly adept at finding workable solutions where complex regulatory requirements meet commercial objectives. In the antitrust arena his practice spans merger control filings for major transactions, monitoring trustee services, advising clients in administrative investigations, and representation in antitrust litigation. He has extensive experience designing tailored antitrust compliance programs and frequently advises Chinese companies on compliance in their overseas operations handling matters with significant national and international implications.
In the realm of data compliance Mr. Wang provides crucial support on building data and artificial intelligence compliance frameworks and structuring cross-border data transfers. He assists enterprises in remediating and optimizing data compliance ahead of U.S. and Hong Kong listings. His outbound project experience covers major jurisdictions such as the EU, North America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East where he helps clients accurately identify key data compliance risks and delivers practical implementable solutions.
He holds an LL.B. from Sichuan University, an LL.M. from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Glasgow. He is qualified to practice law in the PRC and works fluently in both Chinese and English.
Mr. Wang marks the second partner hire publicly announced by Shihui this year following the addition of cross-border transactions and compliance partner Zhao Danyang (赵丹阳) in July.
The Management Committee of Shihui Partners commented that having practiced at leading law firms and worked in-house at a Fortune 500 company Mr. Wang is equally familiar with regulatory rules and the language and objectives of business.
