HFW recently announced that technology and commercial disputes lawyer Jennifer Wu (胡颖琳) has officially joined its Hong Kong office as a partner. Prior to this move Ms. Wu led the Technology Media and Telecommunications practice for the Asia Pacific region at Pinsent Masons. Her arrival will further strengthen the comprehensive capabilities of the firm in complex technology disputes, international arbitration, regulatory investigations, and data protection and cybersecurity matters.
Ms. Wu brings extensive experience advising technology companies, financial institutions, telecommunications providers, and multinational corporates. Her expertise spans a broad range of commercial, corporate, and technology-related disputes including matters involving software implementation and digital transformation projects, artificial intelligence, blockchain, intellectual property, shareholder and boardroom issues, partnerships and joint ventures, and supply chain liability. In the realm of data protection and privacy she frequently advises on cross-border data transfers, regulatory compliance, the misuse of confidential information, and cyber breach and incident response. Furthermore she possesses practical experience advising on cryptocurrency-related disputes involving investments, fraud, liquidation, margin calls, and exchange listing issues.
Ms. Wu is admitted to practice in Hong Kong and England and Wales. Before joining Pinsent Masons she worked in-house at Cathay Pacific Airways. Regarding dispute resolution adjudication and industry public appointments Ms. Wu currently serves as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators East Asia Branch Committee and has sat as a sole arbitrator on HKIAC and SIAC cases.
Peter Murphy, Hong Kong Office Head at HFW, stated that the track record of Ms. Wu in advising on complex technology disputes, cyber incidents, and regulatory matters will be invaluable to clients across the Greater Bay Area and Asia Pacific. Ms. Wu noted that the reputation of the firm for handling high-value and multifaceted disputes combined with its deep sector focus made it a very attractive proposition. She will work closely with other partners across the region including Singapore-based technology disputes partner Shaun Leong (梁韶民) to support clients and further strengthen the technology offering of the firm.
The appointment of Ms. Wu reflects the continued investment of the firm in Hong Kong which opened in 1978 and now serves as its second-largest office globally. Her arrival also continues the strategic growth of HFW across Asia Pacific. Since the beginning of the 2025 financial year the firm has added 17 new partners in the region following internal promotions and lateral hires across core hubs including Hong Kong, Singapore, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth.
